Many captains talk about how they have a vast amount of experience;
this is a badge of credibility. I describe my fishing past in
terms of fishermen, places and times. Since 1989, I have worked
for over twenty captains as a first mate, and have captained
nine different charter boats, including the one I own presently.
This is a very different training and grooming than most captains
receive in the Great Lakes. By the age of 23, I counted over
700 days spent fishing professionally on the Lakes Huron, Michigan
and Erie.
My most
memorable times were spent fishing with Captains Al Lesh, Dick
Kekovich and Doug Reckling. They were outstanding fishermen, mentors,
friends and all have been called home to our Lord. I would give
anything to fish with them again!
My philosophy
is simple: Provide a quality run operation with good crew; a safe
and well-maintained boat and the rest will follow.
